This illustrates our recent work improving a section of dual carriageway using geopolymer injection.
The project involved treating 1,780 metres of rigid road where ground movement had led to deterioration of the surface. Traditional full-depth replacement would have required extensive excavation and long closures. Instead, our solution allowed the work to be completed in six weeks, mostly overnight, with the road open during the day.
The approach also delivered a 62% reduction in carbon emissions compared to traditional methods.

We worked with Nottingham University to understand the influence our geopolymer has on clay soil. A test bed in the engineering faculty was filled with clay and followed by ballast and track, this was then subjected to continuous loading. We injected geopolymer into the clay and monitored the reaction of the clay soil when under loads, which illustrated a 10x improvement in the soil.
