  • 1983 – Sokos Market Kaleva injection – invention of relevelling
  • 1987 – Name change to Uretek, end of contracting in Finland

TuomasI am responsible for engineering in Geobear. That basically means that my job is to give a yes/no answer to sales on major technical challenges, and oversee the development of our technical competence. I joined Geobear 15 years ago after my corporate career in blue chip companies, thus being one of the first team members to the current team. During this tenure I have been author of a new patent family and dealt closely with intellectual property. I have been working my way from product manager position to the leadership team. It has been great to witness the growth of team from 3 people to over a 100 colleagues in numerous countries. Although work is sometimes hard and deadlines tight, I am extreme happy to be working at the forefront of changing an industry!

I have been in Geotechnical Engineering for over 35 years now. Years before I joined the company I was well aware of the solutions it provided and I always thought that there was so much more it could offer.

It is really great to see ground engineering carried out in a clean, non disruptive manner after years of mud and concrete. The value add the solutions bring to the client are the real benefit and the societal impact is something special and great to be involved with.

When I was approached by the company to join them it was a no brainer. The culture of the company is one of continual improvement, targets are set on a weekly / monthly / quarterly / annual and 5 year basis and we are always looking for that small improvement in all metrics.

It is a challenging fast paced environment and requires high energy, there is a great crowd of like minded people all eager to improve here and the word “can’t” simply doesn’t exist.

Specifically about sales roles:

This is a job for high performing technical sales professionals. You get along with people and work with a strong routine against a set plan, with careful attention to daily time management. You are used to working with digital tools and understand details of housebuilding or geotechnics. You are keen on maximising your earnings and working in a strong, competitive team. During your free time you are keen on competitive sports.

 This job provides

You are a pragmatic and down to earth leader with clear communication skills and a track record in delivering profitable growth through positive and productive leadership. You have achieved faster than market growth of revenue with increasing profitability in your previous tenures as CEO / COO. Ideally, you have a strong geotechnical contracting and/ or civil engineering background and a good grasp of financial and KPI reporting.

Your main objective is to increase bottom-line profitability.

You drive continuous incremental improvement of the whole value chain to improve cash flow and bottom line profit through making a company work like a machine.

In your leadership style you embrace authenticity, integrity and making crystal clear agreements with consequences. You hear out and respect subjective opinions but make decisions based on objective data. You value delegation and co-creation and are not interested in micromanagement.

You are willing to commit long term to a set plan with KPIs.

You are fascinated by leading people and developing processes and have a track record of training and mentoring less experienced peers.

You work well under pressure and maintain clarity. Your leadership is visionary and you embrace continuous change despite spinning many plates at once.
