Stabilising London City Airport

engineer working at London City AirportGeobear completes work on London City Airport.

Geobear recently completed ground engineering work on the airfield at London City Airport as part of a multi-million pound infrastructure project to future-proof the site.

The primary work involved the stabilisation of over 100 concrete slabs across the taxiway. Our engineers were airside for three weeks using mobile units to stabilise the made ground beneath the slabs during overnight works. This ensured there was zero disruption to the regular airport operations.

This was part of the initial programme of works contributing to the full runway overlay and taxiway widening scheme. The Geobear work was a critical feature of the programme and illustrates the importance of resin injection as a method to extend asset life and future-proof major infrastructure.
