What is something your customers have to deal with that you want to fix?

Having worked in the Geobear group for nearly nine years I have seen most types of settlement and subsidence issues that our solutions can fix, as such I am in a unique position of being able to provide solutions for all sectors based on my technical experience gained working on similar projects.

For example, we have now completed a significant number of large commercial floor re-levelling projects where by we have provided the client an ongoing maintenance solution, this provides the client with access to our solutions, allowing them to reduce the amount of business interruption compared to alternative solutions as well as keeping the facility operational in the long term.

What do you do at Geobear?

As Engineering Director for the UK I have responsibility for the engineering designs that are produced (across all sectors) working with external consultants to develop new solutions or to expand our solutions into new market areas.

In addition my team provide day to day technical support to all UK Area Managers to assist with their proposals and our Operations teams before, during and after we complete the works on site.

As part of my role I work to develop systems and procedures across all departments to ensure that the works that we complete are undertaken to relevant standards and the correct records are kept from site.

What are your past experiences, for working in your position?

Senior Engineer – Uretek UK Ltd

November 2010 to January 2014

Assessment and design of complex/unusual projects.

Review and interpretation of site investigation data (utilising BS5930, BS1377 and Eurocodes).

To provide an overall increase of the technical capabilities of the company.

Providing technical support to all departments within the company.

Undertaking project management duties, including the preparation of health and safety documentation, foundation analysis, dynamic cone penetrometer interpretation, soil, rock and materials testing, scheduling analysis of soil and water samples and report writing.

Senior Engineer – Shepherd Gilmour Environment Ltd

March 2003 to November 2010

Responsible for overseeing junior staff completing all site investigations, both geotechnical and environmental, writing and reviewing reports, bidding/tendering for projects, liaising with clients, engineers and other parties.

Undertaking preliminary risk assessments (phase 1 desk studies) and intrusive site investigations.

Managing fieldwork activities and subcontractors.

Organising and managing projects in the following sectors: house builders, commercial property developers, public sector bodies, manufacturing, industrial and Infrastructure.

Development and submission of Bids/tenders.

Geo-environmental Technician – Roscoe Capita Environmental Ltd

September 2001 to March 2003

Responsible for site investigation supervision, soil validation sampling, gas monitoring and reporting. Including the completion of factual and interpretative reporting.

What do you like about working at Geobear?

The variety of the projects that come across our desks, at any one moment my team can be working on anything from small one day residential projects to major civil and infrastructure schemes. No two days are ever the same.
