Geobear Secures Shugborough Tunnel Contract

(May 20, 2020)

Geobear has won a contract to deliver the Shugborough Tunnel structural void fill scheme for Story Contracting. The Geobear work commenced on May 9.

The project will see Geobear provide essential repair works to the tunnel lining and complete void filling for eight hidden shafts using our specialist geopolymer material. The purpose of the infilling works is to mitigate the risks associated with hidden shafts, which includes dynamic loading on the tunnel lining due to the internal collapse of voids and ground instability. The works will be delivered over 29 Saturday night ROTR possessions and include 2 weeks of mid-week working.

Rail Director, Ashley Gierth

“ The award of this contract to Geobear is a significant step forward in the growth of the rail business in the infrastructure sector. We look forward to working with our Client Story Contracting in delivering this safety-critical railway project.”

Securing this project builds on a productive year for Geobear despite the impact of the Coronavirus. The business has been operating as normal with stringent safety measures put in place to assure the safety of its staff and the general public

Geobear is growing its presence in the rail sector through investment in staff, new track units, and the development of new solutions for common trackbed issues.
