Geobear Promote David Watkins to Head of Regional Sales (North)

David has been an integral part of the Geobear team since joining in 2018. We are pleased to announce that he has been promoted to Head of Regional Sales (North)

We took some time out with David, to talk about his journey to this point. 

Firstly, David congratulations on your new role with Geobear as Head of Regional Sales, North!

Can you tell us a little bit about your background prior to Geobear?

I was always interested in building things from an early age and I left school and gained an apprenticeship as Site Engineer whilst gaining qualifications as a civil engineer.  I started my career working in transmission, distribution, and utilities before working in the world of piling and after finding a passion for ground engineering I eventually arrived at Geobear.

You joined Geobear as an Area Manager, can you tell us a little more about your time with the company so far?

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far at Geobear and being an Area Manager has allowed me to travel the length and breadth of the country (including a trip to Jersey).  It is a really interesting role and very fast-paced, especially after the ‘surge event’ in 2018.  

What about your new role? What will be your new responsibilities and challenges?

My new role will see me managing a team of Area Managers in the North of England and the United Kingdom including Scotland and Ireland.  This is an important role and will help support the business in our growth plans as we aim to consolidate our position as global leaders in non-disruptive ground engineering and increase our capacity to help our customers.

What do you most enjoy about working with Geobear?

Every day is different and helping our customers restore their homes and properties is very rewarding.  In previous roles especially when building foundations you leave the project at an early stage and don’t get to see the difference that your work has made, at Geobear it is instant.

A lot of companies use the term ‘innovative’ and sometimes it can be used as a way of re-labelling an existing technology but we are actually challenging the norm with our non-disruptive ground engineering technology and that excites me.

And when you’re not at work, what are your interests/ hobbies?

When I am not spending time with my two young children or waking my dogs.  I enjoy taking part and spectating most sports especially golf, football and darts.  I also enjoy going to see bands perform live (when we are allowed).
