Embankment Stabilisation presentation and networking event – London
Tuesday 28 March 2023, 15:30 – 19:00
Geobear will be delivering a technical presentation sharing the results of our Embankment Stabilisation Geopolymer project that took place on the Severn Valley Railway in July 2022. The event is taking place at the ICE in London on Tuesday 28th March 2023 between 15:30 – 19:00.
Supported by the Permanent Way Institution, the presentation will report on the analysis of the stabilisation project and discuss other rail-related use applications, such as formation improvement, transition zones stabilisation, subgrade improvement, track lifting, clay shrinkage mitigation, sinkhole stabilisation and void filling.
There will be time for questions before drinks and canapes, giving you the opportunity to network with industry colleagues.
If you wish to attend the event, please register here: https://forms.office.com/e/d00sysDqyZ. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Project background
Embankment instability causes reduced line speeds and is a common problem in the railway industry. It is traditionally expensive and time consuming to rectify. In 2022, working with Severn Valley Railway, Geobear designed and delivered the first rail project to stabilise an embankment using geopolymer injection processes. The design was a world first – geopolymer injection had never been used or considered for such a challenge. In July 2022, Geobear delivered the project: Embankment stabilisation on the Severn Valley Railway (short video). Having analysed six months of data, the geopolymer stabilisation of the embankment has been successful and we look forward to sharing the results with you.
